Rae Young Lee has extensive experience in patent prosecution including patent strategy counseling, patent application drafting, preparation of responses to office actions and interviews with examiners in various technical fields, with a special focus on pharmaceuticals, chemicals, biotechnology, cosmetics, and medical devices.
Ms. Lee successfully represented a number of domestic and foreign clients in appeals from final rejections, invalidation trials, correction trials and scope confirmation trials at the Board of Trials established by the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and subsequent litigation before the Korean Patent Court and Supreme Court.
Based on her extensive experience and in-depth knowledge accumulated in patent prosecution and litigation, Ms. Lee provides insightful advice and guidance to clients on issues such as freedom-to-operate, patentability, patent validity and infringement.
Before being admitted to the Patent Bar, Ms. Lee worked as a pharmacist at Seoul National University Hospital, where she acquired a variety of clinical experiences and was actively involved in pre-clinical trials, bioavailability tests and research related to adopting new drugs for clinical use. Based on such experience, Ms. Lee is particularly effective in understanding and responding to the concerns of pharmaceutical inventors/applicants.
