
Young Min Kong has extensive experience in patent prosecution including patent strategy counseling, patent application drafting, preparation of responses to office actions and interviews with examiners in various technical fields, with a special focus on pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and chemical engineering, since obtaining his patent attorney license in 2007.
Mr. Kong successfully represented a number of domestic and foreign clients in appeals from final rejections, invalidation trials, correction trials and scope confirmation trials at the Board of Trials established by the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and subsequent litigation before the Korean Patent Court and Supreme Court.
Furthermore, Mr. Kong conducts research on the patent laws of various countries and applies this knowledge to his practical work. He has also contributed to publications on topics such as "Restrictions on Amending Patent Claims to Narrow the Scope" (Invention and Patent, Vol. 34, No. 9; January 2009; pp. 38-42) and "Requirements for Amending Claims to Exclude Certain Compounds" (Invention and Patent, Vol. 34, No. 12; January 2009; pp. 8-12).
